This 1.5 hour weekly class will start with a comprehensive warm up including strength and flexibility training specific for bellydance movements. The remaining time will be spent working on isolation technique, basic dance vocabulary and putting it all together with combinations or short choreographies of various styles. Combinations allow students to start to feel how the individual movements can become a dance, start to learn different stylizations and begin to express the music. The class has an open level and everyone is welcome. Advanced dancers will be given optional "extra credit" to work on. This class is great to refine your dance and do the work no matter what level you are at. Class ends with a short cool down and stretch.
The fine print: No refunds, credits, transfers or IOUs. Emily is not responsible for unattended classes. If a student can not attend a class they may give or sell it to someone else at their discretion but there are no refunds on missed classes or uncompleted session purchases.

Stage Make up & ATS Hair Flower Workshops
with Emily Alrick at Shiviti Studio, hosted by Zahara Solomon
Learn these secrets of the trade from Emily's many years of professional performance, make up and design experience. Please note pre-registration is required for the make up class due to the included instruction materials provided. The hair flower class may be open to drop ins pending room. Room is extremely limited in both classes. Exclusive pre-registration for students of Zahara until July 5th, then open to the public. Lower pre-registration prices will be up until 7/24. Students signing up for both classes are welcome to bring a snack/lunch to eat in between.
~ Stage Make Up: 11am-1pm ~

Learn to apply stage make up to always look your best while performing. After working in the fashion industry for nearly 10 years and performing on stage for most of her life, Emily has a unique skill set to offer on makeup application. This hands on lecture class will cover products, colors, application and how-to advice for a variety of make up situations as well as making the best out of drug store brands. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A. Class includes an in-depth demo of ATS stage face and you are invited to bring your make up bag to try out techniques as they are taught. Participants will come away with knowledge of how to prepare for a performance or a photo shoot and bring out their own unique beauty. A detailed booklet is provided.
~ Hair Flower Construction: 2-4pm ~
Learn to make your own beautiful and sturdy hair flowers for your ATS hair garden. This will be a step by step guided class with materials provided so each student will leave with her own finished flower and comprehensive knowledge of how to make them. Students will also learn tips and tricks to keeping hair flowers secure during dancing, making a quality flower piece and ideas for designs. All materials will be provided but feel free to bring any special pieces to include. Drop in price is $35, if there is room.

Ballet for Bellydance Workshop

Come find out why ballet is used as foundation for so many types of dance and what it can do to help you... This class will introduce basic ballet exercises that can help with balance, flexibility, body lines, turns and so much more. Dancers will work at the barre and in the center to learn ballet terms and technique. We will also delve into how to apply this new-found knowledge to bellydance and integrate ballet as cross training.
All levels/styles are welcome. No ballet experience is required. Ballet slippers or flexible dance shoes are requested if possible (socks will do in a pinch). Please wear close fitting clothing that allows range of movement and your form to be seen.

Flexibility & Floorwork
(open level, basic bellydance movements expected):
Wake up your body with a gentle warm up and dynamic stretching. Floorwork is a very earthy and sensual part of bellydance that requires strength and grace at the same time. This morning class will focus on length, fluidity, flexibility and working with both traditional and non-traditional floorwork. Students will learn the difference between different types of stretches as well as some fun and different floor movements. Come get stretchy and explore the floor! Socks and knee pads are recommended.
Optional group discussion on progress/stagnation, goal setting and training plans. Please bring a lunch to eat in the studio if you wish to participate.
1-4pm . $40
Emily's Awesome Advanced Drills Master Class
(intermediate and above level - adventurous dancers of all levels welcome):
This class will include bellydance conditioning and cross training, drills for isolations including for stamina, speed and layering, advanced layering concepts, floor patterns and footwork, finger cymbals, arm positions and stylizations, and working with combinations in a variety of styles. Class will cover some advanced material but all levels are welcome to come and modify if needed. Learn how to teach yourself and practice for learning advanced concepts. This is a 3 hour class so bring your water, snacks and endurance. Please bring finger cymbals (optional - there are a few loaner pairs and we are not covering basics so they are not required for those who don't already have a foundation).
